What stays on your device

Publication files, filenames, titles, authors, covers, selected text, notes, bookmarks, exact reading positions, searches, browser URLs and history, recommendation embeddings, and detailed personal activity remain local. Leafline does not upload your books for core reading or recommendations.

Core reading

You do not need a Leafline account to import, organize, read, annotate, search, use text-to-speech when supported, set goals, or run private Focus sessions. Your operating system controls app backups and deletion on uninstall; keep your original book files because Leafline is not a cloud backup service.

Optional online services

Reading League and feature community

If you opt in, Leafline creates a pseudonymous Firebase identity. The service may receive your chosen alias, country, optional curated city, visibility choice, bounded session timing and verification state, selected genre ID, votes, feature requests, reports, blocks, appeals, and moderation state. It never receives the book, title, author, note, exact locator, reading text, GPS location, contact list, or store-account identity.

Competition records are retained while your League profile is active. Deleted profiles enter a deletion workflow and are removed from public projections promptly; security and abuse audit records may be retained for up to 90 days where needed to prevent replay, investigate reports, or meet legal obligations.

Ads and consent

The free version may request ads through Google Mobile Ads only after applicable consent choices. Ad requests do not include book context, titles, reading text, browser URLs, rank, city, or notes. Leafline Plus removes all Leafline ad placements. Google may process device and advertising data according to your consent and its own policies.

Purchases

Google Play or Apple processes payment. RevenueCat may validate and restore an opaque purchase entitlement. Leafline does not receive your full payment-card details. Plus follows the store purchase account, not a Leafline account, and is not promised to transfer between Android and iOS.

Analytics, diagnostics, and notifications

Optional analytics uses a strict allowlist of coarse events and bounded parameters. It excludes titles, authors, file paths, URLs, notes, text, exact location, aliases, exact ranks, credentials, receipts, and challenge answers. Redacted diagnostics can be reviewed before you copy or share them. Competition notifications are opt-in.

Your choices

• Use core reading without creating a Leafline identity.
• Change ad and analytics choices from Privacy and consent.
• Disable, rebuild, or delete recommendation signals.
• Keep League rank private, leave League, or delete League/community data.
• Delete local activity separately from books, or delete all local app data.

Security and children

Leafline uses encrypted platform storage for sensitive queued actions, transport encryption, Firebase authentication, App Check signals, bounded payloads, and server-side authorization. No system is perfectly secure. Reading League and community are not intended for children below the minimum age disclosed in the app and applicable region.
